I managed another contact in Cuba tonight. I worked CM6FJJ on 40 meters, although “worked” might be a bit strong, because as soon as we established contact, the signal degraded and I could barely hear him. We did exchange a signal report, names and locations, which was better than what I was able to accomplish elsewhere.
A South African station was coming through weak on 40, but I could copy him just fine. That is until an adjacent station in Costa Rica began blasting away at many dB over 9. So I switched from trying to work South Africa, to the Costa Rica station, but that station was utterly jammed with calls.
Didn’t see any openings on 20M tonight and 80M was a sloppy mess.
One of these days I need to get up early and try to get things done.
