I know it’s not related to ham radio, but I know some hams who are cross-over astronomy geeks like me, so I’ll post this here.
Went out to the Lake Murray Dam last night for a clear view of Comet Pan-STARRS. I really needed a bigger lens and I was kicking myself for leaving the 70-200mm home. Still, I like this image. It needs to be viewed large, and it actually makes a nice wallpaper.
The comet is dim, but viewable with the naked eye using averted viewing. It’s the smudge to the left of the Moon. Click the image for the large version, in which the comet’s tail and coma are easily visible.
