I ordered a 500 hz CW filter and a 2700 mA battery today for my FT-817 from a well-known vendor, and received this notice shortly afterwards:
Just a quick note to let you know that all of our product is packaged for our annual Dayton Hamvention trip. Expect your order will go out when we return on 21 May.
This stuff can never arrive fast enough! Heheh.
It’s been a strange day overall. An acquaintance of mine (full disclosure, I only know him via Facebook; I don’t believe we’ve ever met), has been taking interest in my kit building. He works at the local children’s museum, EdVenture, and asked if I could bring some of the radios by for him to check out. I’m not really sure why, but he seemed to simply be interested in kit radios. Sure, I’ll go by and give him a demo and everything. I do try to evangelize the hobby, but so far I haven’t been able to get any of my friends interested, or my step-dad, who was a ham way back and built his own Heathkit rig and operated CW.
Our club will be participating at the Mini Maker Fair next month at this very same museum. I’m looking forward to it.
Also, our club launched it’s fresh new website today: w4cae.com. My pal KN4QD developed the site and I mainly just brought content from the old site over to the new one. We’re both WordPress fans, so it was a fun collaboration. We went from a fresh WordPress install to a finished site in less than a week, and I think it’s easily one of the nicer-looking ham radio club sites out there. I announced it was live tonight on the 2-meter net and it created a bit of a buzz.
